Edge Protection with Pole-Up System
When it comes to construction projects, safety should always be the top priority. This is especially true when working on rooftops, where the risk of falls and other accidents is particularly high. That’s why on the Stronghold project, our team at Hire was tasked with providing roof edge protection to ensure the safety of workers on a double-storey residential building undergoing a loft conversion and the installation of another lift.
Pole-Up System for Edge Protection
To achieve this, we opted to use our pole-up system, which has a double-storey capability and tight access to either side of the building due to neighbouring properties. This system was the perfect solution for this project, as it could be installed with limited access and no fixings were required. Additionally, the pole-up system uses surface pressure, meaning there were no patch-ups required after installation. The footprint of the system was also very small, just the size of a small wooden board!
Benefits of Pole-up Edge Protection
Using the pole-up system for this project had many benefits. Not only did it provide the necessary roof edge protection, but it also helped to ensure the structural strength of the building. With the additional height of the building due to the loft conversion and lift installation, we used a couple of wall ties to further enhance its structural integrity.

Also, we offer both heavy-duty steel scaffold and lightweight aluminum scaffold, sometimes used in conjunction with the edge rail system, we can usually find a suitable, cost-effective solution to eliminate your fall from height risks. All edge rail systems are compliant with AS/NZS 4994.2 and scaffolding standards AS/NZS 4576 and AS/NZS 1576.
