Shrink Wrap @ Castlereagh Street
With winter now well and truly upon us, rain, wind and unpredictable weather are becoming a regular part of the working week. As always, this seasonal shift has seen a surge in demand for one of our most sought-after services — shrink wrapping. We’ve been a leading provider of shrink wrap services in Sydney for over 15 years, and during that time we’ve successfully completed hundreds of encapsulation projects across the city and surrounding regions.
Shrink Wrap Solutions
Our shrink wrap solutions are ideal for protecting sites, buildings and sensitive work areas from the elements. They provide a reliable, weatherproof seal that keeps work zones dry, clean and operational — even during the worst of Sydney’s wet season. Whether for external refurbishments, internal fit-outs, roof replacements, or façade upgrades, shrink wrapping helps clients stay on program and avoid costly weather delays.
Shrink Wrap Project @ Castlereagh Street
One of our most recent installations took place in the heart of the Sydney CBD, on Castlereagh Street, where a commercial client was undertaking a major refurbishment of a new premises. The job required the entire shopfront to be removed, which left the interior completely exposed to wind and rain. To mitigate this, shrink wrapping was deemed essential.
Working Collaboratively
Interestingly, we weren’t engaged for the commercial scaffold on this particular job — another supplier had erected the access system — but that didn’t stop us from working collaboratively to ensure the end result was up to standard. Our team coordinated closely with the scaffolders and client from the outset to make sure the scaffold was designed with shrink wrap in mind, allowing for:
- Sufficient clearance for rainwater run-off
- A wrap that sat tight to the building façade, providing effective weather protection
- Smooth, snag-free edges to prevent tearing or premature wear of the product
Engineer-Designed Scaffold
Crucially, the scaffold was also engineer-designed to factor in high wind loads, which are significantly increased once a scaffold is wrapped. This kind of planning is vital when encapsulating structures in exposed or built-up areas like the CBD, where wind tunnels and gusts can put immense pressure on temporary coverings.
Premium-grade Shrink Wrap Product
The wrap itself was installed using our premium-grade shrink wrap product, which is tough, flame retardant, and built to withstand the rigours of both harsh weather and long-term use. Once heat-sealed into place, the result is a clean, neat, and incredibly durable barrier that performs exceptionally well compared to cheaper or non-specialist materials.
Job Completely Efficently Without Disrpution
As with most city projects, the Castlereagh Street job came with its own set of challenges — namely strict delivery windows and a requirement for night shift-only work due to traffic and pedestrian management regulations. Thanks to our experienced crew and well-planned installation process, we were able to complete the job efficiently without disruption to the surrounding area or other trades.
