Aluminium Scaffolding - Indoor Swimming Pool

“Hello, do you guys provide indoor scaffolds?” This is a question that we get asked on a regular basis. The answer is always a big fat YES!

Indoor Scaffolds Supplier Sydney

As a top indoor scaffolds supplier in Sydney, we use our state-of-the-art aluminium modular scaffold system and extensive stock of aluminium tube and fitting to provide our clients with outstanding service.

Safe Working Deck Over Swimming Pool

Our latest project, completed in Pyrmont, involved providing a safe working deck over an indoor swimming pool for an insurance builder. The client needed to repair the ceiling above the pool, but the project was small enough that it didn’t require emptying the pool. We installed a deck approximately 1.8m below the ceiling to make it possible to complete the repairs safely.

Project Factors and Assessment

During our site visits, we conduct a thorough assessment to ensure that we can provide the best service possible. Here are some of the key factors that we consider:

  1. Building Access – We check for adequate street parking or building car park availability with height clearance information.
  2. Loading Dock – If there is a loading dock, we determine the time slots allocated for our use.
  3. Work Hours – We inquire if the work is to be done out of hours.
  4. Elevator – We check for a good lift and obtain information on the dimensions and our level of control over the lift.
  5. Floor and Wall Protection – We determine the necessary level of protection needed for material movement to ensure that floors and walls remain undamaged.
  6. Fire Stairs – We examine the fire stairs to ensure that they are open and allow for the passing of longer items such as ladders or ladder beams.

By taking these factors into account during our site visits, we can provide the best possible service and ensure that the scaffold installation process goes smoothly.

When we were hired for this project in Pyrmont, we were pleased to discover that the job was very manageable. The building had a loading dock with high clearance for our truck, which we could use every day except for Mondays. Even better, the swimming pool was located on the same floor as the loading dock, which eliminated the need for us to use lifts or stairs to move materials.

Project Challenges

The only real challenge we faced was navigating some tight corners from the loading dock to the pool area, which meant we could only use scaffold components that were less than 3.2m long. However, we were able to come up with a simple and effective solution. We joined two 3m ladder beams together and spaced them at intervals of 3.2m, 2.5m, or 1.3m to match the sizes of our aluminium modular system hook decks. This design kept the scaffold low over the pool, which allowed us to maintain the required height clearance of 1.8m.

Scaffolding Materials Used

We utilised our Techplas sole boards, aluminium screw jacks, and aluminium tube. This combination provided excellent protection against stains and marks, leaving the area looking as good as new.

Job Completed in One Shift
