Shrink Wrap / Encapsulation at Star City Casino
Stronghold Hire were engaged by Shape Australia to advise them on the most efficient way of protecting 2 of their escalators from dust and debris during demolition works at the main foyer of Star City Casino in Pyrmont.
New Shrink Wrap Encapsulation Service
We suggested that our new shrink wrap encapsulation service would be ideal for this project, much better than any cloth or mesh products and a lot less expensive than a plywood hoarding install.
The Shrink Wrap Process
Firstly we would need to erect a frame for the encapsulation to mold to, it was agreed that scaffolding would be the most efficient solution. Usually we would try to place the legs of the scaffold either side of the escalator and span over the top but unfortunately this was not an option on this particular project.
The legs of the scaffold would have to be placed directly on the steps of the escalator, it was because of this that aluminum scaffold was suggested. After confirmation from the escalator maintenance company that the leg loads were well within limit we were able to start immediately.
Shrink Wrapping Expanding!
This project was completed in 2 day shifts and as shrink wrapping is a new enough idea here in Sydney we had another client who came to view it who was very impressed with the end result. So, looks like the shrink wrapping business may be expanding soon!
